// If I thought yesterday was good…//
It’s so freaking cheesy, I realize it… But I’m happy. I’m just really really happy.
This morning I woke up right on time, thanks to my sweet grandma’s telephone call. After checking my sleep app, Sleep Cycle for iPhone, I figured was rested and ready to go. Getting ready wasn’t all that difficult, I just couldn’t find the right outfit. Finally, I settled on a cute pair of capris and matching top and realized that it was time to leave. My hair cooperated, makeup is never an issue for me, and I always have the perfect pair of shoes for any outfit— thanks to Sbicca, my new/old favorite brand.
I wasn’t able to have breakfast this morning, but that’s okay— all I was concerned about was getting to my first day at my new job on time and looking great.
On the drive to work, I couldn’t help but think about how lucky I am.
My job isn’t all that dignified, but hey— it’s a decent job. I’m an accounts payable receptionist at a 60 year old company in the town I’m moving to very soon. It’s a decent sized company and I make a great salary. There’s potential to move up, it’s great work experience, and best of all— it isn’t sales.
Today was very introductory. I learned how to use the phone system and I did some purchase order matching and filing. Since I work 7:30 - 4:30, the day is really broken up into two distinct parts— the morning is when most people call, the afternoon is for paperwork. It’s pretty easy and it flies by. The best part is that the people are nice and I can see myself working there for a really long time.
At lunch I ate a Subway sandwich so voraciously that you would have thought I was an animal. I walked around a nearby store afterward because my back was tight from sitting all day. Already, I think I’m going to have to modify that desk chair. It’s wreaking havoc on my posture.
Before I knew it, the day was over and I felt so great about myself.
I had a message from my boyfriend to call him, he had good news. Immediately, I did. The second appraisal came in, above what he paid for the house. Plus, the inspection went well— only one little thing has to be fixed: a leaky sink. The whole thing is in underwriting now… and we will be MOVING SOON! I’m beyond thrilled!
Since I had nothing to do, I decided to go to my parents house. Not only has my pillow been over there for the past week, but I thought I’d invite myself over for dinner too. When I got there, my sister in law and nephew were hanging out. We played for a little while and the next thing I knew, my s-i-l brought me this huge packet.
The return address label on the outside made my heart drop. I knew exactly what it was— my divorce papers. Gingerly, I opened it. Yep, just as I suspected: our divorce is FINAL. We’re done. D-U-N— DONE. That heart dropping sensation didn’t last long, though. I’m beyond happy to be done with that portion of my life. Obviously, it’s not completely over with because I have to change my name back and all of my bills over. But, it’s getting close to it.
Dinner with my family was great. I was able to decompress and relax.
Next thing I knew, I looked up and saw that it was after 8:30. Where has the day gone?
It’s almost 9:30 now and I’m riding on a high. Like my boyfriend said this evening, “If we drank every time we got good news, we would have a drinking problem!”
Things are finally falling into place. I’m so incredibly happy.
