There are so many books...
and not enough time in the day to read.
My list of books to read gets longer and longer every day.

We’ve had a wonderful weekend so far.
horse show and visiting with family in the 104 degree heat
snuggling
finishing a book
BBQ and kid’s birthday party = way too much food
more snuggling
We still have two more days to go for our weekend… we have a four day’er!

I finished my book last night...
That makes 25 books read since March, which isn’t too shabby.
But I cannot bring myself to download and start Something Borrowed and Something Blue by Emily Griffin— even if they are free!
I can’t do it.
I won’t do it.
I’m going to read something else, something better. No offense, those books just aren’t my style.
I’ll let you know what I choose. My...

Two Funny Posts in One
Are you ready to laugh? I hope you are.
Yesterday morning I woke up and immediately checked Facebook. This isn’t usual for me, I usually like to read Dear Abby first, peruse Tumblr, check my eBay— do my rounds on the Internet before I hit Facebook. There’s something about being confronted with the useless blather of my “friends” and family that early in the morning...
While in my hometown:
I already have plans to:
Work on and finish my Sunbonnet Sue quilt
See “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” which should be terrifying
Go to a quilt fair
Go to the Heart and Def Leppard concert
Farmers market
hang out with friends
snuggle my dog
It’s going to be a blast!
I've got my information...
Now I wait.
September 15th will be the day I resume this Military Operation: Receive Sponsored IVF.
Until then, I’m just going to have to be patient. The military is all about “hurry up and wait” I’m no exception.
All I can do is wish, hope and pray that our next assignment is in San Diego.

Ugh!
I just got off the phone with TRICARE. Of course, it’s not going to be as easy as I need it to be. In fact, I have a feeling that without covering my ass, I could get burned. That’s why I’m taking every precaution I can.
This is what TRICARE told me:
If I lived within 100 miles of the clinic (I live 120 miles away) then I would be eligible for the change no questions asked.

Three more days here in LA before I go back to my hometown for two weeks.
I slept so well last night; better than I had in two weeks. I didn’t even have to take advil.
My husband and I are going to the horse show today, which should be pretty fun.
I plan on eating a crepe this morning. Yum.
I’ve got to call tricare this morning and I’m terrified.
My house is...

My motherfuck*ng leather jacket came today.
It’s so badass, you don’t even know.
Yes, the cursing is necessary.

When one door closes another doesn't immediately...
I knew this day was going to be emotional, so I subconsciously planned a hundred things to do in order to keep my mind off of it. What could be so heart-wrenching, you ask?
My last doctor’s appointment with my civilian specialist.
This morning I got up and took care to look extra adorable today. I broke out a super cute, dyed Karen Kane shirt, a pair of short shorts and some platform...

It's almost the weekend!
My husband got news yesterday of an operation that will have him away from home for two weeks. He will be leaving sometime early next week, which is perfect in the scheme of things. Now, practically all of our plastic have changed. Instead of Diego hitching a ride back down here, I’m going to leave him up there and go up there myself for two weeks. That way, I won’t be home alone....

My manicurist is mad at me
Last week I went for a manicure and decided to get the shellac nail polish. Well, there were a few problems with it— the top coat chipped off after two days, then the rest of it started to peel off. I wasn’t happy.
Well, I tried to go have it fixed the next day. But, the shop was busy and the guy told me to come back. I never went back because at that point, the pool was more...

Yet another reason why being a housewife is...
This morning I decided that it was time to make a garland for over our fireplace. So I schlepped myself out to the garage and drug my craft bin inside. My neighbor, who hates me (but that’s a different story), caught a glimpse of me in nothing but my Playdoh nightgown from Walmart and scowled. Obviously she doesn’t know how to have fun.
I dug through the felt, the corduroy, the...
Confession #2148
About three days out of the week I put my underwear on inside out. I’ll notice it, but I won’t switch them around. This has been happening constantly for the past year now.
I don’t intend to wear my chonies inside out, good sir. It is just a part of life.

Things I desperately want to learn how to do:
Crochet, specifically how to make granny squares
Cut hair (I dabble now, I’d love to go pro)
Be a photoshop whiz (I’m pretty novice)
Reupholster furniture
Sleep properly
This just occurred to me...
I’ve NEVER pieced my own quilts together! I’ve had my grandma do it!
At least this quilt is on the small size!
I’ll need all the luck I can get!
I just finished...
This is a major event, people!
It’s been six weeks since I’ve picked up any embroidery.
I had half of a Sunbonnet Sue quilt block to finish.
She’s done!
Now I’ve embroidered all twelve blocks!
I can’t wait to pick out my fabrics and start piecing them together!

Jambalaya is in the crock pot...
And I’m getting ready to go curl up on the couch and read my book.
It’s a lovely day.
Lovely.
Dinner Menus for the Week:
Easy Slow-Cooker Jambalaya
Creamy Cheesy Bacon Grits with Spicy Shrimp Skewers
Turkey tenderloin, salad and baked red potatoes
Delish!
Oh yeah...
I just scored myself a People Magazine (trash, I know) subscription on my iPad2 by having my Aunt take a picture of her address label on her magazine, then inputting it into the app!
It’s mindless, I love it.
I especially love it because it’s free!!!!!!!!
I just spent a few minutes on the phone with my Aunt, catching up. Yesterday she told me, via text, that my cousin wouldn’t be able to go to the horse show because she’s been really messing up at school and can’t miss, not even just a day. That scared me a bit because my cousin was going to be instrumental in this whole Operation: Home Diego Home. She was the one who was going to...
Tomorrow:
I have a few things to do, not many though:
grocery store
make something (skull t?)
read
swim laps at the pool
have nails fixed
I’m so freakin’ addicted to pinterest, already!
I better get off the dang computer and read, or I’m never going to get to 50 books this year. I’ve only read 24.5 since March!

The Long and Winding Road
I’ve been avoiding something.
It’s something deep, something personal, something so intrinsic to my life that I cannot run away from it forever. It’s painful and depressing, it dictates so much of our life.
Infertility.
The word is heavy in my mouth, like biting down on the pit of a peach.
For the past month and a half my only goal has been to get myself healthy. My goal...
Monday:
1. Wash sheets
2. Do dishes
3. Make a menu for the week (I’ve got two meals planned ((swordfish; pork tenderloin)), I have to wait for my husband to plan the other two meals)
4. Take bag of clothes to the thrift store
5. Grocery shopping? (not today)
6. Pool, swim laps
7. Call dentist to have bill adjusted
8. Cook dinner
9. Put clean sheets on the bed
My life as a housewife...

I feel like for every book I finish two more...
I've read 23.5 books on my kindle since March...
I finished Deliria and cannot wait for Pandemonium to come out!
Now I’ve got to finish The Mill River Recluse, and finish reading a bunch more books to complete my 50 Books in a Year goal. I don’t know how many more, because I have read a few physical books, which are under my side of the bed. I’ll have to count in the morning.
Now, however, it’s time to go to sleep.

A Lovely Weekend
My husband and I have had the most amazing weekend, starting with our party on Friday:
Friday:
I looked adorable in my “desperate housewife nouveau” outfit
We had an awesome time eating delicious food and drinking homemade wine coolers with peach shnapps floaters
Everyone laughed and had a generally good time
My house was relatively clean at the end of the party
Saturday:
I...
